McCreary Central High School FFA Students Win 1st Place in Regional 3D Archery Tournament

Lake Cumberland Region FFA Regional 3d Archery Tournament.
22 October, 2015

McCreary Central High School FFA students recently took home the 1st Place Trophy after winning the FFA Regional 3d Archery Tournament held at Pulaski County Park in Nancy Kentucky. The archery range consisted of 20 different 3D animal targets. Each Archer worked through the range and shot all 20 targets. Scoring ranged from 5 to 12 depending on where the arrow struck the target. A perfect score would be a 240. We had the second highest individual score of the tournament from Caleb Dixon. 3D archery is relatively new to Kentucky schools. It is the next step after the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP). As students mature, they like the ability to move on from the NASP format to 3D, where they can shoot their own bows and use their own equipment. This same team will compete again in the Spring of 2016 in Regional Tournaments and if they shoot a qualifying score, there is the opportunity to move on to state and national level tournaments.
